Advanced Mafia is played much like the Basic game of Mafia(Read about the Basics of Mafia games here!) just with the addition of more advanced and various power roles. Instead of having just a basic Cop and Doctor, there can be a bunch of different types of characters that can be used in Mafia Games! Listed down below are some pre-approved roles that Game Hosts can use in their game! There are still a bunch of other roles that aren’t listed here that can be used, but the Game Host must get the approval from a Moderator or Admin!

Keep in mind that if you wish to add advanced type power roles to your game, that there must be quite a few players. You can add one or two, depending on which ones, to a smaller game. But in order to use the more powerful and deadly type roles, you will need to have bigger games! The Game Host, once sign ups are down, will need to PM a Moderator or Admin to make sure that the number of power roles and type of roles are well fitting with number of players!

Townie Roles
Vengeful Townie: Upon this role’s death, they gain the power to come back and kill  another member. Depending on the Game Host, there are a few different ways this role can be used.

Way 1-The Vengeful Townie will only be allowed to use their role if they are lynched by the other players, not when they get killed by the Mafia. In this version, the Vengeful Townie does not get to choose who they wish to take down with them. Instead, they automatically kill whoever casted the final lynching vote that lead to their death.

Way 2- The Vengeful Townie is allowed to use their power regardless of how they were killed. In this version, the Vengeful Townie is also allowed to choose who they wish to take down with them.

Bodyguard: Can choose to guard one person each Night Phase. If they do not wish to use their power, they will still have to PM the Game Host stating that they do not wish to use it that night. If they do wish to use their power, and someone tries to kill that person that same night, the bodyguard has a 50 percent chance of killing the attacker and a 50 percent chance of dying in place of the target.

Insane Cop: Same as the normal version of Cop, except when investigating other players, those who are in the Mafia will show as innocent and those who are townies will show up as Mafia. No one will know that the Insane Cop is Insane, not even the Cop themselves.

Witness: The Witness is a very powerful role. They were there during the first murder and saw the Mafia members perform the heinous act! However, they can not say that they are the Witness and can not directly tell the other players that Such and Such are members of the Mafia. However, this is very important and powerful information to know.

Baker: This role can be a very dangerous one. If the Host decides to use those role, all players start off with three loafs of bread During the Night Phase the Baker PMs the Game Host with the two people they wish to give bread to. The Game Host than PMs the chosen players with a message like ‘The Baker has given you a loaf of bread!’ There can be more than one baker, if there are enough players for it, however the bakers must decide together who to give bread to. The Baker MUST give bread to two players each night, though they can decide if they wish to give one or two pieces. If/when the Baker is killed, the town goes in to famine. Once the town is in Famine, each player will live for at least one day. Each piece of bread allows the players to live for a half day. So if you have 4, you will live for two more days.  This can be a very destructive role, but quite intense and fun as well!

Role Cop: The role cop functions much like the basic version of Cop. During the Night Phase, they PM the Game Host with the name of the person they wish to investigate. However, instead of getting back rather the person is innocent or guilty, they have a 50/50 chance of getting the person’s role. So if they investigate Cynaea at night and she’s the Doctor, this version of Cop has a chance to discover what her role is. It’s up to the Game Host how to decide this. Example: The Game Host decides to use a quarter, heads is role given tails is no role given. The Role Cop decides to investigate Cyanea. So the Game Host flips the quarter. If it lands on tails, the Game Host PMs the Role Cop just saying rather she’s a Townie or Mafia. If it lands on heads, the Role Cop will be told that she is the Doctor. The Role Cop can not flat out say who they investigated or what roles they have found, but it is valuable information to have.

Mason: This role is given to at least two people, though sometimes more depending on the number of players. It allows the members of the group to talk privately while knowing that no one in the group is a Mafia member. They can not discuss what power role they have, but it is very useful to be able to talk freely about your suspicions and such without worrying about the Mafia.  It is up to the Game Host when this group meets. It can be during the night phase only, the day phase only, or anytime throughout the game.

Tracker: EACH night phase the Tracker selects one person to follow. If that person visits another player during that same night, the Tracker will be told who that person visited.

Amnesiac: When the Amnesiac decides to use their power, they PM the Game Host. The Host will then randomly select a person from the Graveyard(aka a dead player) and the Amnesiac will become that person’s role in the game. Example: If the Doc is dead and the Host randomly gives the Amnesiac this role, the Amnesiac will now be the Doctor. The Game Host will announce to all players, that they is a new Doctor, or whatever role they were given.


Mafia Roles

Godfather: This role, upon being investigated by the Cop, shows up as being innocent. This adds confusion to the game and makes it harder.

Stalker: Chooses one person during the night phase. The Game Host will let the Stalker know that person’s role in the morning. Can only use their ability twice per a game.

The Lovers: This role is aligned with both the Mafia and the Townies. One lover is a member of the Mafia and one lover is a Townie. If one dies by any means, so does the other one.  It is up the the Game Host if they wish to allow both of the lovers to know who one another is, though typically they do not get to know. This adds to the drama and excitement of the game. If they are allowed to know who one another is, they are not allowed to tell anyone else.

Lawyer: Can choose one Mafia member each night phase. If the person selected is investigated the same night, the Mafia member will appear as innocent.

Voodoo Lady: Choose one person and one word each night phase. The next day, if the chosen person says the chosen word, he/she will die. They can not choose obvious words, like the, a, etc etc. It is up to the Game Host if they allow the chosen word to be used or not.

Yakuza: Can sacrifice self to convert somebody to the Mafia. Can only be used when there is at least one Mafia member still alive and 3 Townies still alive.
